Dr Bike - free bike health checks for jobseekers

The Sustrans Access Project is running a number of Dr Bike sessions for jobseekers, where you can get free minor repairs on your bike. Slots are available - to book click the link below:

  • Thursday 16 September - Nottingham North Jobs and Healthy Living Fair, Bulwell Marketplace, 9.30am - 2.30pm. Bike lock giveaway while stocks last!

Please check with your local operator before travelling for the latest information.

In line with Government guidance, it is recommended people continue to wear face coverings, unless exempt.

All operators in the city continue to clean vehicles thoroughly on a regular basis, and windows on buses will be kept open for ventilation.

  • Use contactless payment methods where possible
  • Keep wearing a face covering
  • Carry hand sanitizer with you to use regularly
  • Plan ahead - avoid peak hours and routes

Rail services

Northern Rail service alterations from Monday 13 until Friday 17 September:

  • 5.15am Sheffield to Nottingham will not call Dronfield, Alfreton, Langley Mill and Ilkeston. Rail replacement bus Sheffield to Chesterfield, and Chesterfield to Nottingham.
  • 9.04pm Leeds to Nottingham will not call Dronfield. Rail replacement bus Chesterfield to Sheffield.
  • 9.12pm Nottingham to Leeds will not call Dronfield. Rail replacement bus Chesterfield to Sheffield.
  • 11.18pm Nottingham to Sheffield will not call Dronfield. Rail replacement bus Chesterfield to Sheffield

As a result of strike action there will be changes to East Midlands Railway services until further notice. Reduced timetables will operate on the following Sundays:

Regional, Intercity and Connect routes affected - 12, 19 and 26 September.

Regional routes affected only - 3 and 10 October.

There will be restrictions on the following streets:

  • Gill Street - A one way system from Peel Street to Dryden Street. 'No Parking' restrictions on both sides
  • Hampden Street - A one way system from Peel Street to Dryden Street. 'No Parking' restrictions on both sides
  • Dryden Street - A one way system from Dundas Close to its junctions with Peel Street
  • Peel Street - 'No Parking' restrictions from its junction with Waverley Street to its junction with Dryden Street

Ongoing roadworks

Monday 22 March - Autumn 2021: Valley Road (Basford)
We're carrying out works on the footpath that runs along Valley Road, including widening and resurfacing. A lane closure will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm. For more information visit our webpage.

Saturday 20 February - early September 2021: Nuthall Road/Western Boulevard junction
Some lane closures in place while resurfacing work is carried out. This is part of a scheme to improve traffic flow and bus journey times at this busy junction.

Friday 23 July - Friday 22 July 2022: High Cross Street (city centre)
Road closure between Heathcoat Street and Western Street due to demolition works.


Severn Trent Water replacement scheme

Severn Trent will be undertaking a scheme to replace water mains on various roads in the Forest Fields area from July 2021. This will include rolling road closures and parking suspensions in 100m sections to excavate and install new water mains in the highway.

Road closure at the junction of Gladstone Street to the junction of Laurie Avenue.

Highways England Clifton Bridge repairs

Highways England is continuing to carry out works to repair and strengthen the A52 Clifton Bridge. An additional lane is expected to reopen toward the end of September, with all lanes due to open by the end of November.
