[1]Mark Kelly for Senate

Say you care.

That’s what I am asking you to do today — tell Congress you believe it must ban uranium mining in and around the Grand Canyon.

If that’s all you need to hear, sign my petition here:

As an astronaut, I was a radiation worker myself.

So I understand what it’s like to deal with radiation affecting my body. You could even see, when you closed your eyes at night, the gamma particles flying through your retina.

This is one of the reasons astronauts have higher rates of cancer, as is the case for people who live near uranium mines, as well.

It’s time the government takes action to make sure we’re not ending up with radioactivity in critical water supplies.

I’ve seen the Grand Canyon from space, and I’ve seen it up close. It’s a national treasure not just for Arizona, but for our planet.

That’s why we ALL have a role in making our voices heard to keep it safe, and why I am asking:

Can you please sign my petition urging Congress to take action to ban uranium mining in and around the Grand Canyon. The Senate needs to know you care about this issue. >>> [link removed]
