It's no surprise, then, that since Democrat Abby Finkenauer launched her campaign to defeat Sen. Grassley, we've seen a massive influx of grassroots support – and we can't afford for our momentum to slow down. With less than a third of Iowa voters reporting they want to reelect Sen. Grassley, this race is Democrats' best opportunity in decades to flip Iowa blue – and if Abby wins, that virtually guarantees expanded Democratic control in the Senate. Victory in Iowa means stopping the GOP's voter suppression efforts, protecting reproductive justice and empowering working families.
But Republicans will stop at nothing to keep Iowa red: The Senate Republican campaign is sitting on a war chest of $28 million to protect vulnerable incumbents like Sen. Grassley, meaning they can shell out millions at the drop of a hat to destroy Abby's momentum. It's absolutely critical that we show the strength of our campaign here and now.
