Friend,
These past several weeks have been challenging for so many in our community as we have watched the end of the US military engagement in Afghanistan and the millions of Afghan refugees who have fled their homes under threat of Taliban control.
As Americans, we have a duty to support these refugees in any way we can. The International Rescue Committee is working around the clock to provide services to refugees, asylees, and asylum seekers in San Diego and across the country, as well as those Afghan evacuees and newcomer refugees anticipated to arrive. They are assisting Afghan families and individuals with medical care, legal assistance and welcome kits with essential supplies.
The IRC is doing crucial work to help resettle Afghan refugees who have experienced extreme turmoil, tragedy, and violence. That’s why I’m asking you to contribute any amount to the San Diego IRC today to support their work.

There will be time to do the needed oversight to learn the lessons of the United States’ efforts in Afghanistan over the past few months and the past twenty months. For now, it is our responsibility to help those Afghan refugees who are coming to the United States. I am proud to support the San Diego IRC as they resettle refugees and am so glad to be part of a community that is welcoming those in need with open arms. If you are able, I hope you will consider making a contribution today to the San Diego International Rescue Committee.
