Donald Trump raised more than $100 million in the first half of 2021.^1
His campaign is hiring campaign staff in key states. A top Trump advisor
says the chances of him running are between 99% and 100%, and, if he runs,
polls show that he'll be a shoo-in for the GOP nomination.^2

Meanwhile, Joe Biden's approval ratings have fallen sharply and are only a
couple points better than Hillary Clinton's were on Election Day 2016.^3,4

Most frightening of all is a new poll showing Trump leading Biden 47-46%
in a hypothetical rematch in 2024.^5

John, we are facing the very real threat of Donald Trump
regaining the presidency. And if we don't take that threat seriously, then
Trump will sit in the Oval Office again. It will be hell for all of us,
but people of color and others marginalized by our society will be hit
hardest.

To make sure we're ready to defeat the Republicans in the midterms and
Trump in 2024, MoveOn is running an intensive series of voter contact
experiments to develop the most effective new tactics to persuade
undecided voters and turn out Democratic voters.

All signs point to another Donald Trump run for president in 2024. Trump
ally Jim Jordan was caught on a hidden camera saying that Trump is
definitely running and will announce soon.^6

And if Trump runs, we must assume that he'll be just as tough to beat this
time as he was in 2020. Remember, President Biden barely squeaked out a
victory because of the Electoral College, winning by just 0.6% in the key
tipping-point state that decided the election.^7 And Republicans have
spent this year passing draconian, racist voter suppression laws to try
and boost their chances in future elections.

We fought tooth and nail for four long years to beat Donald Trump in 2020,
but we're going to be honest: Progressives today are nowhere near as fired
up as we were four years ago at this time. Too many people took a break
from politics after the 2020 election and became complacent about the
threat Trump still poses.

That's why we need to fire up our base and get started now developing the
innovative campaign tactics we need to provide an edge.

Cutting-edge strategies developed by MoveOn over the years have provided
the margin of victory in countless key races and been adopted as standard
campaign practices by both parties. But to stay ahead of the curve, we
need to keep innovating. That means hiring organizers to test various
campaign tactics, track the results at scale, and identify the next
breakthrough strategies. And to do it, we need to know we'll have the
consistent funds to power the program.
