Right now, the Governors of two of the biggest states in the country are under threat. California and Virginia might soon be led by Trump allies.

California and Virginia have a combined population of 47 million, 64 congressional seats, and an enormous share of the American economy. That is a lot of power that the GOP might soon control.

A Republican governor can impose voting restrictions, veto voting expansion, destroy both state’s COVID recoveries, and veto fair redistricting maps.

John, Democratic Governors are often the leaders of progress and sometimes the last times the line of defense against GOP far-right policies. Can you help us protect California and Virginia?

A Democratic Governor could have vetoed the voter suppression bills in Texas, Georgia, and Florida. These are all states where, if we invest in grassroots organizing, we can win. We will work to win in these states, but the California election is in 5 days and the Virginia election is in 54 days. We must win these first.

Democratic Governors can protect and expand vote-by-mail. Under the leadership of our very own national chair Governor Kate Brown, Oregon has one of the best vote-by-mail systems in the country. Other states like California and Virginia can follow Oregon’s example, but only if we stop these Republican takeovers.
