Dear John,
The House of Representatives is currently marking up the reconciliation bill. What does this mean? House committees are discussing what they will and won't be investing in. This legislation package will provide funding to address the climate crisis at the scale needed. If meaningful investments are included, we can work toward environmental justice, decarbonize our power sector, and create millions of good-paying jobs. Without bold investments in climate, we will continue to see climate change worsen, disproportionately harming the most vulnerable populations.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make transformative investments in climate action, but we need your help. This is why we’re asking you to contact your elected representatives to ensure that climate is prioritized in the reconciliation bill.
You know this, I know this, and scientists and experts agree: if we don't drastically reduce carbon emissions by the year 2030, we won’t be able to avoid irreversible climate catastrophe. But we can act now, to prevent communities across the country from facing even more devastating and destructive wildfires, hurricanes, droughts, flooding, and storms. Reconciliation gives Congress one of the best opportunities to build a more equitable, just, and inclusive clean energy economy.
By including the above items in the reconciliation bill, we can ensure that President Biden’s commitments to climate action are fulfilled, ensuring a better future for all of us.
Use our tool to contact your elected representatives to demand they prioritize climate action in reconciliation.
