Well, Why Not Socialism?

A Special Event Featuring Michael Medved, George Gilder, and Jay Richards

Thursday, August 8, 2019
Seattle Pacific University
Upper Gwinn Commons
7-9 PM

A recent Gallup poll found that 43% of American adults believe that some form of socialism would be good for the country. Another poll from Axios shows that 4 in 10 Americans would prefer to live in a socialist country rather than a capitalist one. Avowed socialists have even been elected to office in local and national elections as Karl Marx's economic theory, which was long considered taboo in America, is no longer confined to the fringes of our political discourse.

But do those who embrace socialism even know what it is? Do they know the bloody history of socialist experiments in the twentieth century? Do they understand how it contradicts basic economic truths? Join best-selling author George Gilder, syndicated radio host Michael Medved, and Discovery Senior Fellow Jay Richards on Thursday, August 8th for a lively discussion and explanation of these questions.

Doors will open at 6:45 for check-in prior to a reception with light refreshments at 7 PM. The program will begin at 7:30. George, Jay, and Michael will also be available for book signings at the conclusion of the event.

Registration for this event is $10 and space is limited. Parking can be found in the lot on 4th & W Dravus St. or in the lot behind Emerson Hall on 6th & W Nickerson St.
