I recently saw my name in the headline of a CNN article highlighting that I’m a “political anomaly” in these increasingly partisan times. They cited that I am one of only 16 members of the US House who represent districts that voted for the opposing party’s presidential nominee in 2020.
To take that a step further, I know that among Democrats, I’m one of only five representing districts that voted for Trump in 2020 seeking re-election.
It’s so important that we keep my seat at the table in Congress. Not just to keep the far-right from taking back the House, but for the people of Pennsylvania who deserve a representative who thinks of them first -- not the opinions of a former president.
We’re facing down a critical end-of-quarter deadline at the end of the month, and we need to get a head start if we’re going to meet it. Can I count on you to chip in
I’m proud to be this kind of “anomaly” because it shows that the voters of PA-08 value my leadership and my policies -- regardless of party. And when I go to work in Washington, I put the wellbeing of my constituents first, before purely partisan squabbles.
Unfortunately, this has put a target on my back. The far-right of the Republican party has become so steeped in extremism that they advocate for policies that don’t actually help the people they’re meant to represent, and my conspiracy-theorist opponent would be no different.
Help me keep my seat blue and stop the creep of extremism.
