Policy Matters: Disparate Impact Rule Changes Threaten Fair Housing

Housing finance is the lifeblood of homeownership. Regardless of the condition of the local housing market, if a qualified borrower has access to a fairly-priced loan, he or she can become a homeowner. That fairness, however, depends on a policy infrastructure that enforces anti-discrimination laws, has good data to support it and offers loan products to qualified first-time and low- and moderate-income borrowers. San Francisco Housing Bond

San Francisco voters will vote on Proposition A, a measure that almost doubles the city’s last affordable housing bond—a $310 million measure voters approved in 2015. Chicago Teachers on Strike Demand Affordable Housing

This contract negotiation marks the first time that the Chicago Teachers' union has expressly called on the city to address systemic housing equity ( Illinois law [[link removed]] restricts the set of issues over which teachers may legally strike).
