Nearly two decades ago, we sought to preserve our community's legacy by publishing the stories of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders affected by the 9/11 attacks in a book titled Voices of Healing.
Tonight at 7pm ET, we'd like to show you how the project came together and invite you hear some of the moving experiences contained within it.
Joining us to mark the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001 are nearly a dozen leaders, activists, and survivors impacted by the tragedy – including former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, who gave the official order to ground all airplanes nationwide on that day.
Tonight’s virtual memorial will also feature Deepa Iyer, the Founding Executive Director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), as well as Cathie Ong-Herrera, the sister of Betty Ann Ong – the flight attendant on American Airlines Flight 11 who was credited as the first person to alert authorities to the hijackings.
