ANNOUNCEMENTS

Introducing our new Democratic Socialist Program for Los Angeles

At our last local convention, DSA-LA members voted to prioritize a plan that would strengthen our ability to influence our local political landscape.

One element of that plan involved doing deep analysis of our local conditions in order to develop a "Democratic Socialist Program" that could help us identify winnable priorities that would make a material difference in lives of Angelenos, screen candidates seeking our endorsement, and articulate our socialist theory of change.

The document was drafted by members working with our Electoral Committee, but in order to make sure that it would be representative of the desires of the entire membership, we conducted a vote, which concluded on Monday night. Here are the results:

For: 289

Against: 67

Result: With 81.2% in favor of ratification, the Program is now official.

We're very excited to see so much unity in favor of the Program and are excited to begin rolling it out! If you're interested in learning what's next, make sure you attend tonight's upcoming Electoral Politics Committee Meeting and Subscribe to their newsletter.

DSA-LA’s Neighborhood Solidarity Program is a campaign to strengthen and grow socialist organization by uniting with our neighbors through tenant organizing, mutual aid work, and political study.

Let by local Palms + Culver City Neighborhood Organizers, this ‘Know your rights’ canvass is organized to build connections and solidarity with renters in Palms, to ensure they know their economic rights during the pandemic (including state-wide rent relief & more) and have the resources and support they need to claim their rights and connect these struggles to our fight for a Los Angeles the working class deserves.

New and long-time socialist organizers and community members in Palms/Culver City are welcome to join; this event kicks off with a training at the beginning to make sure comrades have all of the information and resources they need before knocking doors.

Sunday, September 12 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

Join us for a Green New Deal for Public Schools canvass in Boyle Heights!

We will be talking to community members about fighting for mass federal investments in our public schools to create well-serviced and climate-resilient learning environments in our communities.

We will be collecting signatures in support of the Green New Deal for Public Schools demands as they currently work their way through congress in the reconciliation bill.

Spanish-speaking comrades! This is a great opportunity for you to get plugged in to direct community outreach in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood in Los Angeles where we want to build a meaningful base of support for important working class demands.
