NBC News reports that within 24 hours of the brutal Texas abortion law going into effect, legislators in at least six states other states expressed interest in similar bans.
We've endorsed 4 bold progressive U.S. Senate candidates who can win seats that are currently held by Republicans. They are committed to protecting abortion rights and would make Roe vs. Wade the law of the land everywhere -- eliminating the filibuster to get it done.
With Republican Senator Rob Portman’s retirement, Ohio’s Senate seat is wide open. A red tide in recent cycles has threatened to end Ohio’s long history as a swing state and turn it permanently red. But consumer protection attorney, anti-monopoly advocate, community organizer, and long-time PCCC ally Morgan Harper can bring together the coalition Democrats need to win in Ohio: Black voters, women, young voters, and independents.
Wisconsin is ripe for flipping its Republican-held Senate seat, and a brand new poll shows bold progressive Mandela Barnes with a 29-point lead in Wisconsin's Democratic Senate primary. In 2018, Wisconsin elected Democrat Tony Evers as Governor and Mandela as Lt. Governor -- and re-elected Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin. In 2020, President Biden won the state. Now, CNN reports that Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson's "evolution into a conspiracy promotor" has driven Republican voters and even some Party leaders to turn on him.
In Missouri, the retiring Republican senator barely won his last election with 49.2% of the vote. One of the top Republican candidates is the unhinged, right-wing lunatic who got famous threatening Black Lives Matter protestors with a gun. Bold progressive, U.S. Marine veteran, and crusader against corporate monopolies Lucas Kunce is the Democrat who can win in a decidedly winnable Missouri.
In 2020, Kentucky elected a Democratic Governor. That and these two quotes from bold progressive 2022 U.S. Senate candidate Charles Booker give us reason to believe that with support "from the hood to the holler," Kentucky can elect a Democratic senator in 2022:
"Kentucky is not a 'red state.' It’s a disenfranchised state. It’s a place where the number of people who don’t vote outnumber those who do. If we change that, we will send Rand Paul packing."
"I grew up in one of the poorest zip codes in Kentucky. Both of my parents had to drop out of high school to help take care of our family. I’ve had to ration my insulin; and I’ve been homeless. My mom often went without eating so that I could. I’ve lived the struggle other politicians only talk about."
All of these candidates will fight for abortion rights and vote to make Roe vs. Wade the law of the land everywhere. They are all running on expanding healthcare access with Medicare for All and fighting the climate crisis with a Green New Deal.
Getting them elected is something tangible we can do collectively to win the Republican war on our bodily autonomy.
