Friend,
Right now, Michigan Republicans are trying to go around our Governor to make voting harder—by limiting access to absentee ballots, banning prepaid postage on absentee ballots, and restricting voting options on Election Day.
This is not OK. As my colleague Denzel McCampbell says, “we should be doing all we can to eliminate barriers to voting.” And that’s exactly why he’s running for Detroit City Clerk, a position overseeing Detroit’s civic engagement and elections.
Right-wing leaders will keep trying to disenfranchise Detroiters, so we have to be ready. And although it’s an uphill battle to win against a 4-term incumbent, Denzel and his team have a plan to win.
To ensure people in the Blackest U.S. city can fully exercise their right to vote, will you donate to Denzel McCampbell’s campaign for Detroit City Clerk today?
Denzel secured enough votes in August’s primary election to be on the ballot in November against the incumbent.
From what we saw during August’s primary, we really need a new City Clerk.
Polling locations were changed with no notice or signage, ballot drop boxes were removed by the current clerk, seniors did not receive their absentee ballots on time, and voters were turned away and left confused.
Detroiters deserve more and, frankly, Michigan—and our country—is depending on it.
We need a new Detroit City Clerk who will ensure voters get their absentee ballots in a timely fashion, along with all the information they need to vote in secure and accessible elections. We need a new Detroit City Clerk who will work to reverse the downward trend of turnout in our elections.
Denzel’s team is growing, hiring more staff to reach new voters and door knock in every neighborhood. They’ve crunched the data and they know they can win if they can get in front of voters early and often. But in order to pull it off, they urgently need our grassroots support.
Can you help Denzel’s team reach Detroit voters by donating today? Your contribution could affect Michigan’s and the country’s elections for years to come.
