Hi Friend,
Over the last few months, our party’s new Regional Political Managers have been hard at work building Democratic power where it starts: on the ground, in communities across Texas. I’m Allison Manning, and I could not be more proud to be serving rural Democrats as the Regional Political Manager for Central Texas -- and I’m so excited to tell you more about the work I’m hoping we can do together.
I grew up in rural Georgia. So as a small-town Southern Democrat born and raised, I understand what it means to feel like your voice isn’t being heard or your issues aren’t being understood by folks in big cities. And my goal in this role is very simple: I want to act as a bridge between rural communities and our resources here at our core Texas Democratic hub -- helping rural Texans make their voices heard. We can’t turn our state blue in 2022 without the voice of every single Texas Democrat across our state. Can we count on you to chip in $7 or whatever you can to power our mission to organize in all 254 counties?

Like so many people in similar communities across Texas, my family taught me from a young age what it means to truly be a public servant. Both of my parents were public school educators. My grandpa was the mayor of our small town -- back when it was common for rural Southern communities to be led by Democrats. Every night at the dinner table, I'd hear about the adversities people faced in our community, and how good government is meant to help solve those problems.
That faith in the power of good government has stuck with me throughout my career -- from going to city council meetings in college to working in the Georgia state legislature. And that belief continues to guide my work -- because I know that if we can elect more Democrats to take power in Texas, our government can finally start making a positive impact in people’s lives.
For years, I’ve worked to support candidates who are fighting to secure a better future for every Texan. By organizing volunteers for voter outreach, working on fundraising efforts, and helping build coalitions across our party, I’ve fought hard to elect leaders who will tackle the issues facing Texans -- rather than creating new obstacles, like Greg Abbott is so fond of doing.
Once I became a mom, that mission became even more urgent. When I faced complications in the birth of my second child, I saw firsthand how much progress is needed to bridge the disparities in maternal healthcare in our state. And with Abbott’s recent, vicious abortion ban, our right to healthcare is even more in jeopardy -- and we need to be even fiercer advocates for healthcare, including abortion, because rural Texans and Texans of color are going to be the ones most affected. There’s one way to fix this: with every single Texas Democrat, rural and urban, making their voice heard at the ballot box.
Right now, we’re laying the groundwork to organize Texas Democrats in all 254 counties. That grassroots mobilization is the key to defeating Greg Abbott -- but we can’t do it without your support. Can we rely on you to chip in $7 or whatever you can to power the fight to take back our state in 2022?
