John,

Just this week, President Biden announced that his administration would continue to allow offshore drilling and fracking on public lands. At the same time, Hurricane Ida forced millions of people from their homes and flooded whole cities, while massive wildfires continue to burn in the West.

That’s why we’re planning a huge action in Washington, D.C., where hundreds of people will engage in nonviolent civil disobedience to demand an end to fossil fuels. Will you join the kick-off call on Thursday to learn more about this urgent action?

What: Kick-Off Call: People vs. Fossil Fuels
When: Thursday, September 9, 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT
Where: Online, via Zoom (RSVP to receive the link)

The time for incremental action is over. It’s not enough to stop one pipeline — President Biden needs to stop all fossil fuel projects. That’s why we’re working with a broad coalition of Indigenous and community leaders fighting fracking, pipelines, exports and refineries. Here’s an excerpt from their call to action:

“If you have ever marched, rallied, called your representatives, lobbied, signed petitions to urge government leaders to act — we call on you to take the next step. Nonviolent civil disobedience is a time-tested tactic for change. If we all come together, put our bodies on the line in the name of climate justice, we may be able to change the course of history.”

Join the kick-off call on September 9 and find out how we’re going to take action over five days to highlight the damage done by fossil fuels, the climate impacts we are already facing, and the need for real solutions rooted in justice.
