Voting rights momentum in the House. Tell the Senate to stop the holdup.
[[link removed]]Dear John,

Two weeks ago, the House passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act
(VRAA)! It’s a landmark voting rights bill that would restore key protections from the
Voting Rights Act of 1965, which outlawed race-based discrimination in voting,
and help pave the way towards a more representative and inclusive democracy.

Now that the House has passed the VRAA, it advances to the Senate! The Senate
must take up the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement
Act as a first priority in September after they return from recess.

Tell your representatives to pass the VRAA and ensure that young people, along
with other disproportionately impacted groups, are able to fully participate in
our democracy.

If this bill becomes law, it would protect every American’s freedom to vote by
throwing up roadblocks against racist or ageist state and local voting rules, by
ensuring a federal review before they could be implemented. In a time when voter
suppression laws are on the rise, this is a desperately needed piece of
legislation.

Along with the For the People Act
