John, I haven’t stopped thinking about what happened in Texas last week.
The Republican-led bill Senate Bill 8 spells disaster for abortion rights — not just for Texas, but for our entire country. This bill bans abortions around six weeks into a pregnancy (which is before many women even realize they’re pregnant in the first place) and incentivizes Texans to collect a $10,000 bounty for turning anyone who may have helped a pregnant person gain access to abortion services. And it just became the law of the land in Texas.
A law like this has real implications for people in Texas. As someone from Laredo, I’ve seen firsthand how quality health care is under-resourced. To add insult to injury, it’s already impossible for undocumented people to get the care they need after the six-week mark because they can’t leave the area due to immigration checkpoints. Black and Brown communities, especially along the border, will bear the brunt of this oppressive, draconian legislation.
So John, that’s why I refuse to give up fighting for abortion rights. And one of my top priorities once I’m elected to Congress will be to work towards codifying Roe v. Wade to ensure all people have access to abortion care without restrictions and repeal the Hyde Amendment so abortion can be affordable.
But conservative donors already have a plan to stop my campaign from succeeding. That’s why I need an army of grassroots donors like you by my side. Can I count on you to support my campaign so I can fight for abortion rights in Congress?

Texas Republicans are setting a dangerous legal precedent and are strengthening a path for states to override people’s constitutional rights.
That’s why I won’t rest until abortion rights are fully protected — because I understand that quality healthcare — including access to reproductive healthcare is necessary to achieve economic security for low-income Black and Latinx people.
Last time, super PACs and corporate interests, including the anti-choice Koch brothers’ empire and the banking industry’s major PACs, flooded into our race to defeat us. So we can’t fall into the false comfort of an off-year, John. Now is the time to step up if we want to protect abortion rights.
I need a record number of grassroots donors by my side to help lead me to victory so I can work to protect the right to choose. If you’re with me, will you donate to my campaign today?
