I know we’re all gearing up for the long holiday weekend, but before we all log off, I want to talk to you about a couple of things:
First, I want to thank everyone for their generous support of our campaign last month.
And second, I want to tell you about my visit to the White House last week.
I joined President Biden as he signed the PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act into law, a bipartisan bill I co-led that I’ve been fighting for since I first entered Congress. The measure will establish a VA pilot program connecting veterans with service dogs, a proven effective mental health treatment for veterans.
Dogs can be life-changing and life-saving for veterans. Research shows veterans who work with service dogs show fewer symptoms of PTSD and depression, are at lower risk for substance abuse, and have overall better mental health.
As a veteran myself, I’m so proud to see this bill that’s been years in the making and that will have a profound, positive impact for our veterans finally come to fruition.
Thank you for all you do,
Mikie
