It's an awful feeling: looking down at bills on a kitchen table, trying to figure out how to afford everything. And knowing that, sometimes, you just can't -- no matter how hard you work or save.
Food. Rent. Health care. Prescription drugs.
That last one, the high cost of prescription drugs, is what I want to talk to you about right now. Because it's a massive problem that's not being dealt with and is putting people's lives at risk.
No one should ever have to worry about cutting pills, skipping doses, being late on rent, or going hungry because they can't afford the cost of their medication.
The problem is that Big Pharma pulls strings in Washington to make sure that they can keep digging deeper and deeper into our pockets. For example, recently they got the Trump administration to rig the new NAFTA to lock in even higher prices.
Here's the bottom line: We need to stand up to Big Pharma and put American consumers before drug company profits.
My plan? Simple: Require drug companies to give Americans the same pricing they do in Canada, Japan, Australia, and Europe.
Medicine is medicine. The only reason drugs cost more in America is corporate greed -- and politicians who enable it.
Let's change that. If drug companies want to sell in America, they need to stop gouging Americans. Period.
My plan is going to ruffle some feathers at Big Pharma and make a few very wealthy people very upset. They're going to work overtime to beat us in the next election.
But I know that I've got you on my side.
Stand with me as we take on Big Pharma. Chip in $3. Let's fight back today.
