This is unacceptable, John.
Recently, the House Armed Services Committee voted to add an additional $24 billion to the Pentagon budget.
Cori’s stance is clear: we should not be increasing military spending.
We’re tired of our government always finding more money for the defense budget, but then pinching pennies when it comes to making sure regular, everyday people can keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.
Republicans and Conservative Democrats love to argue that we don’t have the money to enact transformative policies like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal for Cities, and housing for all. But as we can see from our Pentagon budget — that’s simply not true.
We’re not letting this slide by. Cori and our progressive allies in Congress are leading the way to shrink our defense spending and invest that money in our communities. Will you chip in $5 or anything you can to support Cori as she works in Congress to prioritize spending for housing, health care, and life-saving policies?
It’s shameful that Congress doesn’t hesitate to invest more money in our military, but rejects policy after policy to support regular, everyday people.
For too long, too many members in Congress have been recipients of donations from the military-industrial complex and special interests who have a lot to gain from a BLOATED defense budget. For too long, we’ve been caught in a cycle of re-electing politicians who don’t understand what it's like to struggle to make ends meet, afford health care, and survive as a regular person in America.
But ever since we succeeded in sending Cori to Congress, she’s been shaking up the status quo and speaking out to transform the way we do politics.
Cori’s ready to continue advocating for the urgent policies our communities need and push back against old-fashioned, broken budget priorities. But she can’t do this alone: Please, donate $5 right now or whatever is meaningful for you to help us fight for budgets that prioritize our families and the most urgent needs our communities face, especially now in a worsening pandemic.
In solidarity,
Team Cori
