John,
Kansas healthcare officials are pleading for Republicans to keep their politics out of hospital safety measures. But Kansas Republicans will not stop their assault on science, hospitals and healthcare experts. Kansas hospitals and our brave frontline workers have had enough.
Steve Stites, chief medical officer at the University of Kansas Health System said that Republicans are trying to tell officials how to do their jobs.
"Let me stay in my lane, but, by God, you stay in your lane," Stites said on Republican political interference in hospital safety. "And don't be coming into my lane telling us how to run our hospitals because what you're really suggesting is we're willing to support you if you're willing to let your hospital staff be at risk . . ."
Our state's hospital systems will not back down from their vaccine requirements. They know vaccines keep their staff and patients safe from COVID-19. The Republican suggestion to withhold funds from hospitals with vaccine requirements is political bullying with life-threatening consequences. Our frontline workers, and Kansans, deserve better.
