Here we go again.
Late last week, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin remarked in an op-ed that Democrats should take a “strategic pause” in moving a transformative spending bill forward.
On MSNBC this weekend, Pramila asked Senator Manchin what exactly he would like Democrats to pause on:
I would just ask Senator Manchin, what does he intend to put a pause on? Does he intend to put a pause on our immediate necessity to fight climate change? Or perhaps he wants to pause on giving childcare to women so they can get back into the economy? Does he want to pause on health care right at the moment when the Delta variant is spiking? How about housing? Does he want to pause on getting affordable housing to people across the country?
From the beginning, we’ve been clear: Congress needs to deliver for the people! That’s why voters delivered Democrats the House, the Senate, and the White House — it’s long overdue that we move our agenda forward.
We have some BIG obstacles in our way, but we can get this critical work done if we do so together.
