Team, July was the hottest month ever recorded in human history. If the intense heat isn’t quite doing it for you, take a look at the climate crisis through a different lens.

You read that right, folks. This will be the coldest summer of the rest of our lives. That said, it’s not too late to act to slow the effects of climate change. We can avoid the worst-case climate effects if we use our voices to demand that Congress acts on climate.

We cannot risk waiting around for our climate to fix itself because it won’t. The longer we wait to take serious action the more likely it is that Nevada sees reduced water resources, increased drought, and more frequent and severe wildfires. Like Susie, we know that our state simply cannot afford that.

We can no longer waste time debating the politics of climate change because the data is in and it shows that climate change is happening. To be clear, July being the hottest month on record is not an outlier by any means. In fact, the past seven years have been the seven hottest years recorded in history.

Thankfully, Susie has been leading the charge in Congress to take serious action against the threat that climate change poses. But, it’s up to us to lend our voices in support of her efforts.
