Hospitals are skirting the rules again… literally.
A recent report found that almost all hospitals are violating a federal rule that took effect in January 2021 that requires them to post their prices upfront.
This price transparency rule was put in place to protect YOUR rights as a patient. That way, you can see what you’d owe before getting a procedure, surgery, or treatment. But a majority of patients are still being overcharged and getting stuck with surprise bills.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) needs to hear from you before September 17 on their new rule to increase penalties on hospitals for non-compliance and to strengthen the current price transparency rule.
