Yesterday, the governor of Texas signed into law one of the most restrictive voter suppression bills of a generation. This new law bans drive-thru and 24-hour voting, puts major restrictions on vote-by-mail, and supports radical partisanship among poll watchers.
There is no other way around it: American democracy is under attack right in front of us. And with this latest bill going into effect, we’re running out of time to protect it.

Texas isn’t the only state rapidly limiting access to the ballot box – other GOP-led states are actively trying to enact similar, or worse, policies. Yet, while all this is going on, urgently-needed federal voting rights protections have stalled in the Senate, thanks to Republicans’ abuse of the Jim Crow-era filibuster.
