John,

I am devastated by the Supreme Court's decision to let an extremist anti-choice law stand in Texas.

From the moment that the Republican-controlled Senate confirmed far-right Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Americans across the country feared that with three new Trump appointed Justices, the Supreme Court would take away women’s fundamental right to make reproductive health choices – and now, this nightmare has become a reality.

The Texas law bans nearly all abortions and encourages people – offering a $10,000 “bounty” to use a tip line to punish doctors or anyone else who helps a woman get an abortion. This extreme law makes no exceptions for rape and incest. Women and girls who are raped or victims of incest are now forced to have the children of their rapists under the Texas law. The worst part is, Texas won't be the last state to outlaw reproductive choice: Republican-controlled legislatures across the country are working to implement the same extremist abortion ban right now.

I want you to know, John, that I have always stood up for a woman’s right to make their own health and reproductive decisions throughout my career. During my time in office, I took an outdated law off the books that once penalized doctors for performing abortions, making New Mexico one of the only states to pass pro-abortion rights legislation in years. We’re safeguarding women’s rights to make their own health care choices and protecting access to reproductive health care for New Mexicans.

Even in New Mexico, reproductive rights are at risk. Several radical, anti-choice Republicans are running against me and threatening to wipe away New Mexico’s women’s access to reproductive health care.

I will continue fighting to ensure that everyone – regardless of their gender – has access to the full spectrum of reproductive care. But I need to hit all of my fundraising goals to stay in office, elect Democrats down the ballot, and stop the GOP – so I need your help to raise $11,551 by midnight:

Please, will you donate $5 today to protect access to reproductive health care?

I'm so grateful for people like you – who are willing to fight alongside me to stop the GOP's oppressive agenda.

Thank you,

Michelle Lujan Grisham
