Seven days ago, the most extreme abortion ban in the country went into effect in Texas. That means seven days of confusion and panic as people seeking abortions scramble to find the care they need.

Forgive my bluntness -- but this disaster is only going to get worse. The Supreme Court turned a blind eye to the devastation this ban will cause, and will soon hear another case that could further decimate abortion access. Meanwhile, elected officials in other states have already signaled their intention to follow Texas’s lead. Caught in the crossfire will be people with nowhere to turn.

John, as hard as this is, we can’t stop fighting. And we need your help -- today -- to take that fight where we can make the most difference: in the states.

At NIRH and our Action Fund, we are committed to fighting on the ground while the lawyers are in the courts. We know that the best path forward is to work at the state and local levels to protect and expand reproductive freedom -- including access to abortion -- everywhere we can. This strategy has always been central to NIRH’s theory of change.
