John,
Afghan women who broke barriers to get an education and advocate for equal rights face imminent danger under Taliban rule. Their basic freedoms are at risk and many are fleeing the country to escape persecution.
I’ve said it before: We have a moral obligation to aid those left behind in Afghanistan — especially the marginalized groups, like women, who are facing the most danger under the new Taliban regime.
And while I’m calling on President Biden to raise the cap on refugee admissions to no less than 200,000 for the next year, our work doesn’t stop there.
We can help refugee resettlement and provide financial support to all the women whose lives have been upended as they seek refuge in America.
That’s why today I’m asking you to consider making a donation to the International Rescue Committee of Northern California and aid their efforts to support Afghan women resettling in our region. Will you make a donation today and play a critical part in giving these refugees a safe, secure home here in the United States?

Thank you for looking out for our community. The least we can do for these women and all those seeking refuge from Afghanistan is look out for them as we welcome them home.
In solidarity,
Barbara Lee
