Dear John,
Texas recently passed a law (known as Senate Bill 8) that restricts abortion after a heartbeat has been detected in the unborn child. Because this law has actually gone into effect and not been blocked by the courts, this is the first time since Roe v. Wade was passed 48 years ago that the unborn have been protected anywhere in America starting at six weeks. Coming at the same time that the Supreme Court is taking another look at abortion in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, this legislation is reason for great hope and reminds us that one day America could be a country that values and protects life at any stage of development.
We must continue working towards this goal, as abortion activists work to tear down any emerging and existing pro-life legislation. This was evidenced earlier this summer when Nancy Pelosi's House passed the annual Labor-HHS appropriations bill without the Hyde Amendment for the first time in decades. For the last 44 years, the Hyde Amendment has protected American taxpayers from funding abortion. But the Left wants to see that change.
This week we are highlighting Pray Vote Stand: The Left Wants You to Pay for Abortion. Watch this important broadcast to learn the history of the Hyde Amendment and why it is one of the most significant pieces of pro-life legislation in our country. Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) analyzed why, after decades of passing this amendment, the Democrats are trying to force American taxpayers, regardless of their personal or religious beliefs, to fund abortion. Congressman and physician Andy Harris (R-Md.), gave an update on where the Hyde Amendment and other pro-life legislation stands. Charlotte Lozier Institute President Chuck Donovan shared the history of the Hyde Amendment and its sponsor, the late Illinois congressman Henry Hyde. Ryan Bomberger, co-founder of The Radiance Foundation, debunked the Left's claim that the Hyde Amendment is "racist" and leads us in prayer for an end to all abortion.
As discussions over pro-life legislation frequent the news, social media, and other communities, will you join us in praying for churches, believers, and pregnancy resource centers to arise and help women and families who are facing unplanned pregnancies? Also pray for legislators to stand boldly for life and support legislation that will protect the unborn. Pray that American taxpayer dollars will not go towards funding abortion practices. Finally, pray that America's heart will be changed and that its citizens will recognize the truth about the humanity of the unborn.
