This is going to be a big month in Washington, John.
But before we get into that, I just want to take a moment to commemorate all the progress we've made in the last year.
First, we saw a disgraced con man booted from the highest office in the land after a fair election with the highest voter turnout in over a century. In that same election, we managed to fend off a Republican majority in the House and take back control of the Senate.
Then, we started getting our country back on track by passing robust COVID-19 relief for communities and families. Plus, we've struck a historic, bipartisan deal on a massive infrastructure bill that will secure much-needed funding for our roads, bridges, waterways, and energy infrastructure.
These achievements have restored my faith that progress is possible.
Now, I refuse to sit by and watch the progress we've made unravel at the hands of the GOP. In light of the shameful passage of far-reaching voting restrictions in Texas, we have to double down on our efforts to protect our democracy and our House majority.
We founded Shield PAC with a clear goal in mind: to stop Republican extremists from taking our country and dragging it down through hellish lies, Trump-worship, and the erosion of our democracy.
See, nothing is off-limits to the GOP. They still question the legitimacy of the 2020 election and align themselves with a man who would rather incite a deadly riot than admit he lost an election. And they are still publicly undermining efforts to get our communities vaccinated and protected against COVID-19, even as their constituents suffer and die.
And what's worse is that GOP lawmakers use these heinous lies as the foundation for their legislative agenda. They're restricting voting rights in Texas and across the country, banning common-sense mask mandates and COVID safety precautions, and launching a dangerous new assault on Roe v. Wade. It shows just how important it is for us to retain our House majority to prevent more GOP destruction.
That's why Shield PAC is working overtime this month, using every resource we have to shield our Democratic majority — and our country — from the party of sedition and lies. But we need your support to keep going as the GOP's lies and outrageous claims ramp up.
