Help build a Care Economy, get the “We Care” button!

Dear Friend,

It’s been hell. Moms and caregivers are barely dealing. We are desperate for solutions now

The good news is: Hope is on the horizon. Congress is starting to move forward a combination of policy solutions caregivers need, like paid family and medical leave, making permanent the expanded Child Tax Credit, childcare for all, and more. But to keep this legislation moving, Congress needs to hear from you (and us) about the realities of what’s happening in our lives right now.

Share with Congress what’s really going on – including the caregiving pain, hopes, and hurdles – to keep Congress on track moving solutions forward. Sign up to drop off MomsRising’s Care Economy storybook at the local, in-district constituent office of one of your Congressional representatives by the end of September.

When you sign up to do this fast, high-impact action, we’ll mail you everything you’ll need, including the storybook to deliver and the free “We Care!” button for you to wear during your drop off. Scroll down to see more details.

We really do have a unique opportunity right now to turn our despair, worry, exasperation, and even rage into actual change. As Congress works on the infrastructure package, the set of policy solutions that build the care infrastructure are very much on the negotiating table, including national universal policies relating to child care, paid family and medical leave for when an urgent health crisis strikes or a new baby arrives, a permanently expanded Child Tax Credit, living wages for care workers, home- and community-based services, a path to citizenship for essential and care workers, access to unbiased health care and more.

MomsRising’s Care Economy storybook is filled with the voices of moms and caregivers like you sharing their caregiving struggles and experiences. Your member of Congress needs the storybook to better understand how hard caregiving has been and get behind the policies caregivers need – and delivering the storybook is a powerful way to help move change in our nation’s capital.

This September, Congress needs to hear from caregivers! Sign up to drop off MomsRising’s Care Economy storybook at the local, in-district constituent office of one of your Congressional representatives, and get the free “We Care!” button to wear.

*Please forward this email to any friends or family who can help turn our pain into change by dropping off the Care Economy storybook. And please post the sign-up link online. The more of us who take action, the faster we’ll get to much-needed solutions.

Just taking care of our families and loved ones and getting through the day is an incredible struggle right now. Congress needs to move forward with solutions. Together, we are a powerful force for the transformative change we need

In solidarity,

Gloria, Kristin, Joy, Jessica, and the entire MomsRising/MamásConPoder Team

Are you in? We’re fighting for Congress to finally build a care economy, including childcare for all, universal paid family/medical leave, making permanent the expanded Child Tax Credit, and other policies families and businesses need to recover from the pandemic and thrive moving forward. And… we’re on the edge of winning these policies, but we need your extra help to get across the finish line!

*Sign up now to do a fast, high-impact action: Just drop off MomsRising’s Care Economy storybook at the local, in-district constituent office of one of your Congressional representatives before the end of September. It’s easy! We’ll mail you everything you’ll need, including the storybook to deliver and the button for you to wear during your drop off. MomsRising is mobilizing thousands of volunteers across the country to deliver storybooks to a nearby office of their U.S. House or Senate member. This easy action is an amazingly effective way to - over the August Congressional recess period - keep our lawmakers focused on the critical work that lies ahead and push key policies forward for a win. Thousands of real people showing up at constituent offices across the country with real stories will be hard to ignore.

We can make history together, for real. Why? Because we have a once in a generation opportunity to help build the care infrastructure our nation needs, and Congress needs to hear from parents and caregivers in order for it to happen. Our voices are more powerful than we often think. And right now we’re at a fulcrum point in history, where our voices can push our nation to win long-needed transformative change toward universal childcare and paid family/medical leave. That’s why MomsRising created the Care Economy storybook, filled with powerful and moving personal stories from members like you across the country about how hard it is to give care, making the case that it doesn’t have to be this way. And that’s why we’re asking YOU to help now.

We need your help to drive the message home by personally dropping off the storybook to the local office of your U.S. House or Senate member. What could be easier than dropping something off to help get childcare for all and universal paid family/medical leave for everyone?

Click here to sign up to deliver a care economy storybook. It’s so easy - we’ll send you everything you need!

Check out the sign-up page to see a bonus opportunity to take more action and get TWO more beautiful, free buttons about the care economy!

Once you sign up, here’s what will happen:

  1. Pick your closest local drop off location - We’ll give you the addresses of the constituent offices of your U.S. House and Senate members for you to choose the address that’s closest to you for your drop off!
  2. Get your story book to drop off - We’ll snail mail you the Care Economy storybook to drop off at your local in-district office, as well as your free “We Care” button to wear during the delivery.
  3. Set a date to do your drop off - Sometime in September (ideally before Sept. 27), you’ll look at the address list and find the constituent office most convenient for you, and drop off the storybook. You may even want to bring a friend or two to join you as you are doing the drop-off!
  4. Pictures!!- Take pictures of your drop off & post it on social media with #CareCantWait & #DeliveringOnCare, and email it to us at [email protected]. The pictures could be of you standing next to your lawmaker’s office sign, and/or you handing the storybook to office staff, etc. We need these photos to create a visual representation for the news media of moms and family members across the country taking action and showing “We Care”! THANK YOU!!!

*BONUS: Find and decorate a baby onesie with #PaidLeave4All, Care Economy, #ChildcareForAll, or #CareCantWait to drop off along with the storybook. You can use glitter glue and yarn, sharpies, puff balls, or anything you want in this kid-friendly art activity. (If you do this, please be sure to send us a picture at [email protected]).

Doing an in-district drop off is so easy, and we are here for you every step of the way. Get the beautiful “We Care” button and wear it for your delivery to show you are part of the movement to create the care economy!
