Yesterday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott enacted an anti-voting law that goes beyond mere suppression. It's not just unfair and anti-democratic. It's just plain mean.
The new law would criminalize efforts to make voting easier for eligible voters. In Texas, and in states like Minnesota, people who run elections routinely send out absentee ballot applications to voters who might benefit from choosing to vote from home. But starting yesterday, that common-sense practice is now a felony.
My job is to protect voting rights and I need to know if you’re willing to help me fight back. Add your name now if you want to protect voting rights.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Texas has now also prohibited voting methods that were wildly successful in 2020 - such as offering 24-hour voting or "drive-through" voting staffed by trained county election workers.
Why should any of us care about this new law if we don't live in Texas? Because no matter where we live, voting rights are at risk.
I'm proud to join other Secretaries of State from across the country in opposing the new Texas law. It's unacceptable and un-American. Join me right now in fighting for voting rights. [link removed]

Steve
