UPDATE: New public safety ballot language passed 

Dear John,

Yesterday, we asked you to take action and tell your city council member to keep fair and clean language on our ballots this fall. We’re grateful to you and everyone who took action. New ballot language has been passed, and in a few short weeks we’ll be able to vote on the future of public safety as a city.  

As Yes 4 Minneapolis said in this helpful statement: "By every demonstrable measure, this charter change is common sense, sensible, clear and worthwhile in keeping people safe. That’s why those who benefit from the status quo, want to proclaim the opposite." Sahan Journal has a helpful explainer article that is updated with the final ballot language. 

We’re fighting for a city where public safety is fully funded and our communities can be served by trained professionals like social workers, mental health specialists, violence prevention and interruption specialists, and teams dedicated to working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Voting YES on Question 2 is the way to get there.
