350MKE Fridays for Future
Friday, September 10, 2021
12:00 - 1:00 pm

Chase & Wells Fargo Banks
Wisconsin Ave. at Water St.
Masks and Distancing as appropriate

Last week was busier than usual for pipeline protest in Milwaukee!

On Wednesday 350MKE joined the Sierra Club, Great Waters Group, and others on Milwaukee's lakefront to raise awareness of the danger of Line 5 passing under the Straits of Mackinac. About two dozen people joined the demonstration including several passersby. We got a lot of positive reaction from traffic, bikers and pedestrians. Susan Modder engaged many patrons at the Colectivo courtyard who were wondering what was happening across the street. Milwaukee was joined by the cities of Detroit, Chicago, Detroit and Windsor in the protest.  Read more about the protest here.

On Friday about ten people were on the corner of Wisconsin & Water letting pedestrians and drivers know that Chase and Wells Fargo are financing climate change and asking them contact the banks or even move their accounts. We get a lot of positive feedback!

Can't join us on Fridays?
Here's something you can do now from home!

From the Stop the Money Pipeline team,

The climate crisis could cause a financial crash worse than 2008. Despite beginning to take symbolic steps on climate risk in 2020, the Federal Reserve has helped bail out failing fossil fuel companies and hasn’t done anything to limit Wall Street’s risky fossil fuel financing. Words don't mean anything when they aren't backed up by actions.

Call your Senator now and ask them to support the call for a climate-conscious Fed that takes the danger climate chaos poses seriously.

The Federal Reserve could play a critical role in catalyzing the rapid shift of money away from oil, fossil gas, and coal — but only with leadership that takes climate chaos seriously.

With the impacts of another super-powered hurricane wreaking havoc on people and their homes, we don’t have time to wait.

Petition from 350.org
Demand answers from Big Oil:
Join Ro Khanna and 350.org on putting the
pressure on Big Oil CEOs.

Fossil fuel companies knew that they were advancing the climate crisis, but they ignored the science and lied to the general public. And we refuse to let the world burn from Big Oil’s deceit.

It’s time to hold ExxonMobil and other fossil fuel corporations accountable for fueling the climate crisis. Join 350.org and all our partner organizations by signing onto my call for a hearing with Big Oil executives today.

None of this work would be possible without you. Thank you for rising up and doing what you can to support our movement.
In solidarity,
Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17) and Team 350

The Climate Consensus
A network of concerned scientists speaking up for truth and our future

The Climate Consensus Network has an aim of dispelling the myth held by many people that scientists do not consider climate change to be a serious issue. They want to bridge the divide between scientists and the public. The science students in the network go out to schools and organizations to talk about climate and why it matters. Through their efforts, the barriers to acknowledging the climate crisis are likely to start coming down. The speakers can also share their stories in order to equip us to go out and have climate conversations.

Global Climate Strike - Lead Up to Glasgow
Friday, September 24
12:00 - 1:00 pm

Chase & Wells Fargo Banks
Wisconsin Ave. at Water St.

Masks and Physical Distancing as appropriate

We'll have Chase, Wells Fargo and Stop Line 3 signs available
You can also bring your own
signs for climate justice!

Join the Fridays for Future Global Climate Strike on 24 September 2021, focused on the people and areas on Earth who are most afflicted by the devastation of climate breakdown. Meanwhile, abnormalities such as heat waves, drought, flooding, fires become ever more normal.

MAPA (Most Affected Peoples and Areas) are experiencing the worst impacts of the climate crisis and are least able to adapt. The wealthiest countries impact the climate by a vast margin  through the destruction of the environment, colonialism, systemic injustices, and  greed which is coausing the warming of the planet.

There are nearly 1,000 strikes and protests planned
around the world for September 24th!
Milwaukee will be one of those 1,000!
