** Economic Democracy Weekly
------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome back to the Economic Democracy Weekly! We begin today what will be a multipart weekly series on the solidarity economy. This week’s article by Emily Kawano sets the tone for this series and provides a vision for how transformation to an economy based on norms of mutuality and solidarity can occur. Additionally, since this past Monday was Labor Day, we include an article that looks at workers, unions, worker centers, and the state of the US labor movement. We also feature two shorter articles on philanthropy. One looks to the past and identifies four key lessons learned from past community economic development initiatives; the other looks to the future and efforts to increase connectivity within Black philanthropy across the globe.
