This has been a heartbreaking last week for New York City. More than two dozen lives have been taken in the historic flooding brought about by Hurricane Ida.
While we remember and honor the lives lost, we must move forward with action to make sure no more lives are lost to climate change. That’s why I’m calling for immediate Congressional action to end fossil fuel subsidies and shut down peaker plants.
We need a Green New Deal NOW. I’m advocating in Congress for climate action, but I want to hear your opinion. Take our 2021 Climate Survey to join the conversation and help me tackle the climate crisis. [[link removed]]

The extreme flooding in NYC last week is not normal . The increase in hurricanes like Ida is not normal . Regularly losing human lives to climate incidents is not normal .
We cannot sit by and let our futures be dictated by polluting peaker plants and fossil fuel executives who don’t care about the health and lives of New Yorkers. We must cut down on our use of fossil fuels and start caring about the planet we live on.
