In a moment, we’re going to ask you to donate to Democrat Terry McAuliffe’s campaign to be the next governor of Virginia. But before we do, we’re going to give you three reasons why every Democrat MUST be paying attention to this year’s governor’s race in Virginia:

1. If you care about voting rights, you need to pay attention to Virginia. This year, we’ve watched GOP governors enact anti-democratic voter suppression laws across the country. And Terry’s GOP opponent, Glenn Youngkin, has made restricting voting rights and Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” the central issues of his campaign.

2. If you care about reproductive freedoms, you need to pay attention to Virginia. If Glenn Younkin becomes Virginia’s governor, he will move to restrict abortion rights and defund Planned Parenthood. It’s that simple.

3. If you care about defeating Trump, you need to pay attention to Virginia. Virginia’s gubernatorial election is the first test of Donald Trump’s popularity beyond 2020. If Democrats lose this race, Republicans will see a HUGE surge in momentum heading into the 2022 midterms. And it might cost us the House and Senate.

Terry McAuliffe can win this race, but he’s going to need a historic grassroots team to pull it off. Youngkin has pledged spending up to $75 million of his own money to buy the Governor’s office for him and Trump.
