MN GOP Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka officially launched his campaign for Governor this morning.

This is no surprise. Gazelka spent the past 18 months shamelessly pandering to the right-wing base and relentlessly attacking Governor Walz for doing his job to keep Minnesotans safe during the pandemic.

When Minnesotans were counting on their elected officials to act with courage, Gazelka failed to meet the moment. Instead, he pathologically downplayed the threat of the virus, spread dangerous misinformation, and personally caused an outbreak among lawmakers by holding a maskless superspreader event.

Gazelka is leading the GOP charge to attack voting rights under the guise of Donald Trump’s Big Lie, made a career out of advancing dangerous anti-LGBTQ legislation, pushed restrictive anti-choice legislation like the Texas law upheld by the Supreme Court last week, supported outrageous Republican lawsuits to overturn the ACA, and refused to hold a single hearing on meaningful criminal justice reform with the entire world watching.

The last thing Minnesotans need is a Governor who is unable to put the health and wellbeing of our state before politics. Gazelka is extremely dangerous, and with three other GOP candidates in the race already, we can’t take any chances.

We set a rapid response goal of $15,000 by Friday so we can make sure Minnesotans know how big of a threat Gazelka is. Will you pitch in $10, $25, $50, or whatever works so we can have Governor Walz’s back?
