FEATURED BILL: ENACT KINCARE AND SAFE DAYS
Ensuring workers can earn protected sick leave to care for themselves when ill has been an ongoing challenge in the state. But even for those workers who do earn sick leave, many are prohibited from using it to care for a sick child or take an elderly parent to a doctor’s appointment.
That's why Rep. Clemmons, along with her colleagues Reps. Cunningham, Adcock, and Alston introduced the Enact KinCare and Safe Days bill in May.
The bill requires employers who provide sick leave to allow employees to use the leave to care for an ill family member for up to five days.
This bill is not only the right thing to do by families, caretakers, and children, it would also keep workplaces healthier and businesses more productive.
In solidarity,
Pia Nargundkar Communications Director
