Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, and other progressive members of Congress have all joined the movement calling on President Biden to replace current Federal Reserve Chair, Jerome Powell, with someone who will take serious action on the climate crisis.
Biden could announce his decision any day, so there’s no time to wait. Momentum is on our side and that’s why we’re delivering our petitions to the White House this Thursday, September 9. Can we include your name, John?
The statement signed by five members of Congress says it all, John:
"At a time when the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is warning of the potential catastrophic and irreversible damage inflicted by a changing climate, we need a leader at the helm [of the Federal Reserve] that will take bold and decisive action to eliminate climate risk."1
If the goal of the Fed is to manage “risk” to our economy, there is no greater threat than a climate that is unlivable.
Our goal is to reach 50,000 signatures to show Biden and his administration that people across the country are watching his decision and expect him to put our climate first and nominate a new Fed Chair who will make climate action a priority.
