Dear Friend,
On September
1st, against
the backdrop of the architecturally inspiring St. Dominic’s Church in
San Francisco, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone graciously offered
the monthly Operation Storm Heaven Holy
Mass, livestreamed to tens
of thousands of Rosary Warriors and faithful Catholics throughout the
country and around the world.
As a longtime collaborator and
founding Episcopal Advisor for Catholic Action for Faith and Family,
Archbishop Cordileone is filling in for Cardinal Burke in the Global
Rosary Crusade while His Eminence continues to make progress in his
recovery from the coronavirus. Everyone who took time to submit and
update their prayer intentions had them included in the prayers of
Archbishop Cordileone as he offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and
recited the Holy Rosary afterwards.
Then, in a September
6th Washington Post op-ed, this same leading prelate of our Church
expressed how disturbed he was to see yet another immediate and
shameful uproar from some Catholic politicians now denouncing Texas’s
new law banning abortions after the detection of a fetal
heartbeat.
In his op-ed, Archbishop Cordileone
praised the example set by then-New Orleans Archbishop Joseph Rummel
for his outspokenness and willingness to back up his faith with action
when confronted with unjust racial discrimination. Rummel both threatened and applied serious Church penalties to
numerous prominent Catholic segregationists in the early 1960s and
would not remain silent in the face of such a massive
injustice.
Having the honor to work with
Archbishop Cordileone for many years, I know he is cut from the same
cloth as Rummel. Therefore, I encourage every supporter of Catholic
Action for Faith and Family to join me in offering our unwavering
support to His Excellency as he and his fellow bishops deliberate on
the proper course of action to confront the serious scandal of
so-called “Catholic” politicians and their public rejection of the
Church’s most fundamental teaching on the sanctity of human
life.
If you have not had a chance, take
a moment to read the Archbishop’s Op-Ed published by the Washington
Post.
May Our Lady of the Rosary bless
you and your loved ones now and always!
Your fellow Rosary
Warrior in Christ, Thomas J.
