The extreme anti-choice law in Texas sets an abhorrent precedent nationwide -- and Republican Madison Cawthorn thinks this is good news. 

We have to stop Cawthorn from winning a second term in Congress and advancing his dangerous agenda to restrict access to health care and choice. We need your help to defeat him.

The Texas law outlaws abortions after six weeks of pregnancy with almost no exceptions, and it deputizes citizen patrols to intervene in one of the most personal health choices someone can make.

Under this law, any private citizen can sue doctors who perform abortions or individuals who provide any type of assistance to someone seeking an abortion -- such as offering a ride to a clinic or supplying monetary support.

Let’s be clear: When Cawthorn calls for other states to follow Texas’s lead, he is calling for bounty-hunting “citizen patrols” across the country. This is a direct threat to people’s health and safety.

The decision to have an abortion is a deeply personal and often painful one. We need elected officials and judges who respect a person’s right to make decisions about their own body. I will be a vote and a voice in Congress to codify the right to choose in federal law.
