It’s past time for Congress to restore and strengthen voting rights in America.
John,
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act recently passed the House. All House Democrats present voted yes. All Republicans voted no.
Now it’s time for Democrats in the Senate to vote like actual Democrats, swiftly pass this bill, and send it to President Biden's desk.
And when the GOP inevitably obstructs, Democrats need to scrap the filibuster to get this done.
John, it’s past time for us to honor the legacy of Rep. John Lewis. It’s past time for Congress to restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act of 1965. And it’s past time for Black Americans to be able to vote in elections without facing racist voter suppression.
John, I don’t know how Democrats in the Senate will end up voting on this incredibly important piece of legislation. But I do know this:
Send me to the U.S. Senate, and you will *always* be able to count on me to be the 51st vote to scrap the filibuster and turn the John Lewis Voting Rights Act into law.
