In Memoriam
The Campaign mourns the death of Aila Accad, MSN, RN, executive director of the West Virginia Action Coalition. Aila was long devoted to the cause of better health for all. She was an integral part of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. Her legacy will live on through her tireless efforts over the years, contributions that have helped improve the lives of many in West Virginia and throughout the region.

Quinn Named AAN Honorary Fellow
The American Academy of Nursing has named AARP Center to Champion Nursing in America's Director of Advocacy and Consumer Affairs, Winifred Quinn, PhD, FAANP(H), as an honorary fellow, one of four &ldquo;individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary and lasting contributions to nursing and health care throughout their career.&rdquo;




Congratulations to Win, and to Harriet Udin Aronow, PhD; David Auerbach, PhD; and Felicia Marie Knaul, PhD, MA. As we reported in our last Campaign Update, Susan B. Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, senior adviser for nursing at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and director of the Campaign for Action, will also be inducted as an AAN Living Legend.

Sigma Bestows 2021 Awards on Those Advancing Global Health
&ldquo;Exceptional&rdquo; and &ldquo;distinctive pioneers&rdquo; are the words applied to Campaign allies whom the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing has honored in its 2021 awards. Diana Mason, PhD, RN, FAAN; Peter Buerhaus, PhD, RN, FAAN; and Mary Naylor, PhD, RN, FAAN, are recognized as pioneering a number of practices that have improved the lives of many.

The American Red Cross has put out a call for volunteers, listing its &ldquo;most-needed volunteer opportunities&rdquo; in shelters, disaster health services, blood collection support, and disaster action teams.
