Hey John,
I hope you had a good and healthy Labor Day.
Yesterday, we had the privilege of marching with union workers and
families in Lima in support of the Ohio Jobs for Ohio Workers campaign at
the annual Labor Day parade. It was a powerful display of unity,
especially as multinational corporations continue to target union
communities across Ohio by importing non-union, non-Ohio workers and
paying them low wages with no benefits.

In fact, an energy company is doing just that in Lima right now. They're
bringing in 3,000 workers from out of state who are living in hotels so
the company doesn’t have to employ and pay local, union workers who
typically would get those jobs.

Union workers had to unite and fight for us to have rights like overtime
pay, child labor laws, safety laws, a minimum wage, the 40-hour work week,
and even the weekend.

I’ll be honest John, during my
visit to Lima I couldn’t help but think of how far we have to go. As I
told The Lima News yesterday, "The fight for workers' rights was a big
part of why [I] decided to run for office. I was raised by my mom. [My
mom] was in the union, and that was the difference between totally going
off the rails and being able to weather the storms that are inevitable for
everyone." Standing up for workers isn’t just a policy issue. It’s a
personal one.

Let’s be real. Corporations are cutting deals right now that end up
