Hey John,
I’m Tamara, the North America Director of 350.org and I’m writing to you today with an open heart. In just a moment, I’m going to boldly ask you to make a pledge to sustain this incredible organization for years to come, but first, let me tell you who we are and why I’m here.
In ten short years, 350.org has grown from a small, driven group of students, to hundreds of staff and a vast local organizing network around the world all joined by one central call to action: to expand the climate movement and end the age of fossil fuels. I joined the team just seven months ago and already I’ve witnessed the incredible power of this organization.
Just a few weeks ago, after months of iconic organizing across the political spectrum, 7.6 MILLION PEOPLE took to the streets at 6,100 sites in 185 countries for the Global Climate Strike. This was unprecedented and I’m here to tell you, the team inside 350.org was working around the clock to support young people in pulling it off.
In short, we are making waves.

As I look ahead at the shifting work of 350.org, I know that we are at a time when every real climate solution demands both an equity lens and truly inclusive practice. I’m proud to have always worked within this framework and to now be with an organization that values these truths above all else.
In the years ahead, we will continue to build a multiracial and multi-generational movement, united toward a more just, equitable world free from the greed and destruction of the fossil fuel economy. We will cut off the money that fuels the climate crisis and target the sectors where the polluters have continued to fund their extraction against the will of the people.
