Run for Something

Hi there --

Usually, on a Monday morning, I'd try to keep things light with updates from our incredible alumni and candidates. But instead, I'd like to share two not-so-fun things with you.

First, this piece on why Republicans win at every level when Democrats don't pay attention to state politics; Meaghan Winters writes that "right-wing strategists have chosen to implement their policies on the state level because almost no one is paying attention" -- and we couldn't agree more.

Second, this tweet:

Karl Rove tells Texas House Republicans that it is critical for them to hold the majority heading into redistricting: If the trend continues, we'll lose the House

The idea that Republicans are aiming to use state and local elections to enact their horrific policy ideas across the country isn't a new one -- it's what they've been doing for years. The difference is that we (as in you, me, and everyone else on this team) are paying attention, so they might not get away with it, but only if we can recruit candidates now to run against the anti-science, anti-choice, and anti-diversity guys the other side keeps electing. Chip in to fund recruitment efforts this month and beyond:
