Nuclear disarmament in the age of Covid-19: CND fringe meeting
Join CND's online fringe meeting as part of Trades Union Congress 2021
- Monday 13th September, 12:30-1:30pm
- Online meeting with opportunity for all to contribute
During this ongoing massive public health crisis the government has decided to increase its nuclear arsenal by over 40% and make a big increase in military expenditure, but it refuses to pay nurses properly. How can it justify this shocking misallocation of public funds – on weapons of mass destruction rather than healthcare – during a pandemic? Join us to discuss how we can change government priorities, rethink industry and economy and give nurses and the NHS what they deserve.
With speakers Dr John Puntis, co-chair of Keep our NHS Public; Rachel Ambrose, Mental Health Nurse, Nurses United & Nurses of Colour Network; Mark Curtis, Editor, Declassified UK; Sam Mason, PCS Policy Officer Sustainability & Climate Change; and Kate Hudson, General Secretary, CND.
