Dear John,
This week we invite you to join our TSA Week of Action aimed at highlighting the 20th anniversary of TSA’s establishment.
Created in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks, TSA has sought to ensure the safety of the flying public. AFGE is proud to represent more than 40,000 Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) as they carry out their mission as the first line of defense in aviation security.
Over the last 20 years we have fought to unionize the TSO workforce and advance their rights in the workplace. This summer we welcomed the long-awaited news that through a new Determination TSA officers would have expanded workplace rights and improvements to their pay scale. However, we know that is not enough.
TSA officers deserve full Title 5 rights like their counterparts in countless other government agencies.
This week we encourage you to join us as we highlight the incredible work of TSA officers and demand that they be granted full Title 5 rights!
Here’s how you can take action!
-
Today, Tuesday, September 7: Tell your lawmakers to support H.R. 903 and S. 1856! Join more than 2,600 supporters in urging Congress to advance Title 5 rights for TSOs.
-
Wednesday, September 8: Look out for a text message from your union, AFGE, with social media graphics that you can share on your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, with the hashtag #20YearFightForTSARights, to spread the word about the important work performed by TSA officers and how to support their fight for Title 5 rights. Click here to make sure you’re signed up for our text alerts!
-
Thursday, September 9: We will share an op-ed about the work still left to be done to secure the workplace rights our TSA officers deserve.
-
Friday, September 10: We’ll wrap up the week with some important information you can share with your networks about the critical work of TSOs and how you can continue to take action!
We look forward to reflecting with you this week and taking meaningful action to advance the workplace rights of TSA officers.
Stay tuned for more emails and text alerts coming your way during our TSA Week of Action!
